Grants: Project Grants

Program Goals | Deadlines | Application Forms

Program Goals

The Philadelphia Music Project’s primary goal is to enhance the cultural life of the community and further establish Greater Philadelphia as a cultural destination, by addressing the following priorities:

To fund music projects of increasing significance, creativity, and diversity.
The Philadelphia Music Project seeks to support substantive, adventurous programming in all musical styles and forms. The program encourages projects that challenge the bounds of traditional repertoire, programming, and musical practice, thus cultivating an artistically dynamic environment for music in the Philadelphia area.

To foster and promote musical excellence in our region.
PMP seeks to support organizations that engage exceptionally talented musicians, conductors, composers, and vocalists; as well as the performance of significant musical compositions. PMP encourages collaborations that not only bring the best regional musicians together, but also bring the best national and international musicians into our area for outstanding performances and partnerships.

To augment and enrich organizations’ ideas and activities.
In supporting organizations’ core missions, PMP also seeks to present organizations with the impetus to stretch the conceptual boundaries of their understanding of that mission. PMP grants give music organizations the opportunity to expand their current programs and pursue new artistic ideas and activities.

To strengthen the creative capacity of music organizations.
Through conferences, seminars, consulting services, professional development grants, and other initiatives, PMP helps organizations search for realistic and productive ways to raise their overall artistic quality and organizational efficiency. As an element of professional development, PMP also seeks to provide broad exposure to its funded projects, raising the profile of participating organizations.
